How to choose a proff??

I have been deliberating for a few weeks now on trying to choose a prof. Most people get allocated but because im already working in the lab I have been asked to choose if possible. I should probably make the decision soon and send it in with the scholarship students as profs might be taken if I wait for my own deadline. Anyways I have managed to whittle the choices down from 7 to 4 based on the fact that one guy is purely theoretical (yuck), the other is too busy and the other doesnt seem to bother too much about replying to me. Been talking to the students of the remaining 4 and I see that each is the best in their eyes so that realy helped! Anyway what do I need to consider :-
Research area - yay as far as i can see not very different there
Do their projects interest me?
Are they concerned with their students - degrees - totally ignore to spoonfeeding types
Do they allow independent thinking
How demanding? - will they get on with my work demands as well?
How are the other students - I will have to work with them too
Publications? - often - rare / important - mass publish/ authorship
Hows their funding and knowledge - any risk of them up and going?
With all these in mind all the proffs seem to be good in a few areas but not so in others plus get conflicting views from different students. This is just crazy!. Hopefully I can decide soon.
